Overview: West Maui consists of all the oceanside towns west of the West Maui Reserve. In its early days, the larget city in West Maui, Lahaina, was a major center for Hawaii's whaling industry. This city has transformed into a touristy area full of fascinating landmarks, exquisite shopping centers, restaurants and vacation homes. Lahaina is also home to the only currently operating ferry station on Maui. Ferries regularly travel between Lahaina and the outlying islands of Molokai and Lanai. Be sure to watch Ulalena, a captivating theatrical tribute to Maui's cultural heritage.

Just to the north of Lahaina is Ka'anapali and Kapalua, the resort centers of West Maui, including the Hyatt Regency and Ritz-Carlton. However, many of the resorts provide free access to their gorgeous pools and upscale shops even if you are staying at one of Good Life Retreats' vacation properties.
